Ways To Give...
GRASSROOTS CREATIVITY
The foundation of Camp Patriot support!
Your monetary donations are always needed and appreciated!... Just click here to donate ;-) But monetary donations are not the only way...
Following are some of the creative abilities and positions individuals are using to benefit Camp Patriot. Their personal efforts allow us to provide tangible evidence to our Disabled Veterans that we care and they can once again have hope in a future. May these stories be an inspiration for using your talents:
Body Builders

Dale Robertson, a veteran paratrooper stationed out of Ft Bragg in the '90s, and His Wife Jill, are doing a body building program for Veterans called "Quantum Excellence." Dale is entering his 2nd year participating in Body Building Competition on behalf of Camp Patriot and gaining additional donors among his supporters and fellow competitors.
The Robertsons are a walking Camp Patriot Advertisement. Where other competitors wear the musclewear shirts provided by the industry, Dale and his group conspicuously sport Camp Patriot shirts and hats - not the norm at such shows!
The uniforms they wear have been donated by a long time supporter of Camp Patriot - Debi Caldwell of SunWest Sports in Richland WA... www.sunwestsportswear.com
Dale even has a voice override on his musical accompanyment saying "This is for Camp Patriot!" Take a look at his video... www.QEtraining.com
Teachers and Students

As in most schools, teachers fill multiple functions designed to encourage their students to become involved in "real life." At Phillips Academy in Andover MA, Mark Cutler is a Spanish instructor, house counselor, and outdoor pursuits director who provides opportunities for students who like to hike, climb, orienteer, bike, paddle, camp, play on the ropes course, etc..
This year, Mr Cutler’s rock climbing group (including those from Milton Academy) chose to go beyond climbing for climbing's sake, and host a benefit event for a worthy cause. Their search resulted in choosing Camp Patriot as the recipient of their efforts. Their activities parallel what Camp Patriot offers our disabled Veterans to give them hope that they can once again enjoy a future in the outdoors!
Sixteen students worked to provide the event held Feb 20th. About 45 climbers took part, each donating $12, and they are still taking donations! (Note also their T-shirts & logo - donated by Debi Caldwell of SunWest Sports, Pasco WA). How encouraging it is to have nurturing teachers, enthusiastic students and supporters promoting and sharing our values – giving honor to those who sacrificed their personal well being for our sakes.

Car Clubs
The Olympia Beatnik Car Club in Pasco WA raised $1000 for Camp Patriot while participating in the 2010 annual car show in Pasco. Details of how they did it haven't been received yet, but we're amazed at what they accomplished at a single event!
Military Experts
The use of unusual skills provide some creative fundraising opportunities. Such as that implemented by Micah's long time buddy and Marine sniper, Carl Taylor, from Colville WA. Carl now works for a company that sends him around the world training military and law enforcement personnel in anti-terrorism tactics, techniques and procedures.
Carl has established a "Steel Challenge" long range competition for the benefit of Camp Patriot. The Competitors shoot at steel targets from unknown distances. The competition is held under the auspices of his Q42 organization (now in its 2nd year). Anyone that wants to shoot is welcome - however, this event (May 15th) is now filled! If you'd like to know more about it click here.
Crafstmen
Army Special Forces Sergeant, Edward Grondin, and wife Rebecca of Fort Lewis WA, spend their "spare time" working at "Ed's Custom Creations." His artistic work is well known at bizarres around the Ft Lewis area. Among Ed's creations are wooden coffee mugs - for which he's been sending all of his profits to Camp Patriot - "A labor of love!"
"Becky" is also skilled at creating and working with social media sites such as facebook and twitter. She is helping spread the word about Camp Patriot by volunteering her skills using these tools.

Aviation Enthusiasts
Producers of the Vintage aircraft show, "Wings Over Washington" in Pasco WA not only share their profits with Camp Patriot, but thrill some of our veterans, both WWII and recent, with gratus rides in a B29 bomber. Another private pilot with a KingAir Flew Scott Smiley and Micah Clark over to Tacoma for Scott's Mt Rainier climb.
Football Enthusiasts
TAILGATE PARTIES:
The Tri-Cities WA area has a very enthusiastic "Fever Football" support group headed by Mr Randy Schillinger. "Fever Football" is also enthusiastically supporting Camp Patriot!
Randy, Brian Howald of Sportsman's Warehouse, Kennewick WA, and Camp Patriot have worked together to provide Tailgate parties for Tri-Cities home football games. Sportsman's Warehouse and "vendor friends" have provided all the food on a donation basis - with all proceeds being given to Camp Patriot!
Randy sends out a mass email like the following prior to each home game:
"Hello Fever Fans!
You're all invited (and encouraged) to attend Camp Patriot's Tailgate Party before the big game against Spokane this Sunday. We are very passionate about this great cause, "Giving Back To Those Who Have Given."
Micah Clark, Founder and Executive Director of Camp Patriot will be there with Sportsman's Warehouse cooking up a great BBQ for you all to enjoy. We will have prize giveaways, games, lots of food and fun, and music courtesy of The Dance Machine! Spokane Shock Fans are also invited, so make sure you're all there! Bring the whole family, we want to make this a really big event.
All proceeds go to Camp Patriot; be generous. These people are going to a lot of work to make this a big hit with our fans; we want this to be an added dimension of entertainment for you all as well as allowing you to make a difference in the lives of our wounded veterans. Come on down early for lunch and fun and support Camp Patriot!
Barbers
There is a 10 station barbershop outside the gates of Cherry Point Marine base in Havelock NC. They also serve customers from Camp LeJune, Jacksonville NC, about 45 minutes away. The owners, Lerah Parker and daughter Tina Matson, had a Camp Patriot banner made at their own expense to "tell their world" about Camp Patriot's mission and support us with their enthusiastic skills and ingenuity. "Go Grassroots!"
Office staff, Mountain climbers, Event planners , Artists, USO's, Schools, Administrators, Football executives and numerous product donors...
All worked together in the Seattle/Tacoma community to put on a spectacular dinner/auction At Qwest Field to honor our 2009 guest veterans for our annual Mt Rainier Climb. Renowned international mountain climber, Ed Viesturs, donated his services as the guest speaker. Seattle Seahawks, coordinated by Mike Flood and the news media provided the facilities at Qwest Field. Red Lion Inn provided hotel rooms, secretaries and volunteers from across the community combined their connections, logistical skills, energy and time to produce a rewarding event.
2007 / 2008 RAFFLE
Due to the generosity of several businesses - among them R&K Hunting Co., Pioneer Log Homes, FarWest Log & Timber Construction, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Jim Shockey Outfitters, we were able to conduct a yearlong raffle with 4 prizes totalling nearly $200,000 in value. The REAL WINNERS of this raffle (and all donations) were our combat-injured veterans. Whether you personally benefit as a winner or not, your contribution in any manner increased our ability to serve more veterans! View the story
FUNDRAISING CHALLENGES
Marketing is a challenge to even the most experienced, but... together we can truly delight the souls of our veterans for the personal sacrifices they have made.
TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH MUCH
to
"GIVE BACK TO THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN"!
What equipment would you still like to get your hands on for camp Patriot so that you do no have to rent or borrow climbing gear for the climb. I am looking into some more potential supporters to provide gear from the climb I just need to know what you need. things like ropes tents and perhaps harnesses and axes. let me know and I can try to fill in the gaps.
>
Also, does it look like we will still have the cameramen at this point. I am confident that we have 3 or 4 rope teams to take them to the summit this year. I am also building a contingent of gear haulers so if we need people to haul extra gear for the film crews as well as the usual climbing gear. Since we are starting of on a Sunday it is much easier to find guys to help haul loads.

Hey Bud-
I've been out of the loop for the past week - spring break w/ the family, but back on line now.
So far this is who I have recently contacted from last year's supporters list, and what I have requested for this year-
> Petzl - additional helmets, crampons, harnesses
>
> Adventure Medical Kits - First aid kits
>
> Nalgene - water bottles
>
> Julbo - Sunglasses
>
> Dermatone - sunscreen
>
> Leki - Trekking poles
>
> ThorLo - Socks
>
> SMC - ice axes
Additionally, I have contacted-
> Kahtoola - snowshoes, crampons, micro spikes
>
> Camelbak - Gloves, etc.
>
> Energizer - Batteries, headlamps
I have also asked for additional product from these companies for use at the Qwest banquet auction.
Also, I have asked many of these companies who have helped in the past with product, to support our efforts to a greater degree through the donation of cash.
We would still benefit through the product donation of tents, ropes, sleeping bags, and stoves. Tents and stoves could be from MSR, which is within the Cascade Design group. Has Tim been approached on this? In past years I have solicited both Black Diamond and BlueWater for ropes, etc., but to no avail. Sleeping Bags could be through First Ascent, along with apparel - which I still need to contact Pete on.
Thanks! (Curtis Fawley)
